Paul Wharton, Conway Daily Sun April 21, 2009 North Conway, NH - Classes at local school for psychics, the Zener School for the Mind, were disrupted yesterday afternoon when an incendiary device was thrown through one of the classroom windows. This homemade bomb shattered the window and set fire to the classroom, prompting an evacuation of the school. The culprit, a 26-year-old man named Alec Whickham, was apprehended at the scene by Zener security staff. He was found to be carrying other such devices. Police and fire personel arrived at the scene and the fire was extinguished and Whickham taken into police custody where he was later charged. Sources from the school say that while there were minor injuries, no one was seriously injured, and damages were as minimal as possible, as it was quickly caught. However why Whickham chose to attack the school in such a manner remains to be scene. "He is not giving us any information," said a source from the police department. "Although he has freely admitted to his crimes, he refuses to answer questions dealing with why he did such a thing. It was obviously planned, though, as he had time to get together the things he needed to construct a crudely made bomb." This is not the first time that the Zener School has been the target of criminal activities. While many people are still uncertain where the line between reality and fantasy is when it comes to psychics, some people have put psychics firmly in reality - and into the line of discrimination. Targetting high school students seemes especially low, but has not stopped some people. Police are looking for any additional information that citizens might have. post a comment
Hunter Kincaid, New York Times April 17, 2009 D.C. - Lewis Rossi, a Washington D.C. Senator has become quite vocal in recent weeks when it comes to speaking against psychics. He has become one of the leading politicians in the quest to bring in laws and regulations to govern those with psychic ability - or, as some of his naysayers would say, to brand psychics like cattle. Senator Rossi held a press concerence yesterday in order to speak on this subject. "Psychics are a danger," he spoke to a full house. "They have abilities that we are only beginning to understand, and which there are no controls for. The American public has a right to know who among them weild such potentailly destructive or disturbing powers." "People are always lobbying for stricter gun control laws," continued Rossi - who is, for interest's sake, a member of the NRA. "Well these people have the potential to cause trouble from the time they're young. And people will use what they have avaliable to him," he said, sparking off the debate of, if a psychic has an ability, does that automatically mean that they will use it? "You have those lunatics calling themselves Project Stargate running around and causing mass amounts of damage and even taking human lives. It's clear that something has to be done to protect American citizens." When asked what he proposed, Senator Rossi spoke of a registration system that would require all individuals with psychic abilities to make themselves known - to employers, to schools, to landlords, to anyone and everyone. "This psychic thing seems to happen young," the Senator said. "Parents should be required to sign their children up as soon as it becomes apparent." Senator Rossi is not the only politician pushing for such regulations. Whether they will find enough backing to making such regulations a reality remains to be seen. post a comment
Lindsay Perron, Conway Daily Sun March 27, 2009 North Conway, NH - In a move that surprised and shocked everyone, Father Daniel Kennet, the recent addition at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, was asked to step down as a minister by the Archdiocese of New Hampshire due to his being psychic. Until now, the Catholic Church has been curiously silent as a whole regarding the emergence of psychics. Choosing to step back and watch before making a statement and officially it still has not come. Father Kennet, a Zener graduate, has been an ordained priest for the past five years and has never hidden his background. He served the church using his ability to translate ancient texts in Chicago before being transfered to North Conway shortly after students at Zener were kidnapped in November. "I never requested the transfer," he said, speaking briefly to the press, "The church asked me to go back to Zener, so I did. I have always served the church." It is not yet clear if Father Kennet will step down as he's been requested or if he will fight the church to remain a priest. When asked about it he replied, "I will pray for guidance and do what God tells me." post a comment
Hunter Kincaid, New York Times March 22, 2009 NY, NY- Airports in Denver, Colorado, Richmond, Virginia and Chicago, Illinois were rocked by suitcase bombs in the late hours of Saturday night. Bombs were detonated at almost the exact same time in three seperate locations - the O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, the Denver International Airport and the Richmond International Airport. The damage done by these bombs was considered minor. There were two bombs planted at each airport, all in washrooms. Reports from the airports indicate that the washrooms and the surrounding area of the airport concourse were destroyed. However much of the damage came from the panic these bombs caused. The explosions rocked the airports and could be heard in all areas, which stirred travellers and airport employees alike into a chaotic situation. Moments later, the bombs all released the chemical agent 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, which is commonly known as tear-gas. The tear gas poured from the detonated devices in large amounts, flooding the airport concourse, and causing nausea, vomiting and collapse in hundreds of people. Dozens at each location were taken to local hospitals for various allergic reactions. A man in Denver and a woman in Richmond suffered heart attacks shortly after the explosions. Many other people were taken to hospital for injuries sustained either as a result of the explosions themselves, or sustained during the panic afterwards. A number were in critical condition at the time of publication. An man in Richmond and a woman in Chicago were killed as a result of the explosion. Police are combing over airport security tapes in order to find the perpetrators. However while the indentities of the criminals are not know, the organizations that they belong to is - papers reading 'Regards, Project Stargate' were found at each location. Project Stargate is the psychic terrorist organization that was responsible for the destruction in Times Square on New Years Eve. A police spokesperson in Richmond has said that they are planning to crack down with the full force of the law when they find those responsible, and the police in Chicago and Denver have agreed with that statement. More news on this story as it becomes avaliable. Please see nytimes.com for continuing updates. post a comment
Hunter Kincaid, New York Times March 15, 2009 NY, NY - The offices of New York Times Chief Editor Bill Keller, located in the New York Times Building were vadalized some time late Friday/early Saturday. When security personel did their rounds on Saturday morning at 4 am, they found the office of Mr. Keller, as well as the offices of his secretary and assistants completely destroyed. "The computers were fried," said Alan Blake, security guard for the New York Times Building, located on Eighth Avenue in Manhattan. "So were the security cameras. We immediately checked the feeds in order to see who had perpatrated the crime, but the video was scrambled completely." As well as computer and electronic damage, the offices themselves were destroyed and left in chaos. Around the same time, the home of Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr, one of the owners and publisher of the New York Times was also vandalized. "The damages are extensive," reported a spokesperson for the Sulzberger family. "Fortunately it was only property damage; no one was hurt." The security system at Sulzberger's lavish house was also described as being 'fried'. A message was left at both locations, identical in nature. Keller and Sulzberger have asked police not to release this message. "We do not want to encourage such criminals by letting their messages be seen and heard by the country as a whole. That's likely just what they want," said a spokesperson. However it can be said that the culprits were psychic. "The evidence is there," said Mr. Blake, security guard. "Both in the nature of the destruction, and in the message that was left." The criminals were thorough in removing any evidence from the scenes. Police are asking that anyone with information contact them immediately. Mr. Keller and the Sulzberger family are offering rewards to individuals who bring forward information that allows for the capture of the culprits. post a comment
Lindsey Perron, Conway Daily Sun March 3, 2009 North Conway, NH - Morning broke this morning to show that the sign that welcomes residents and vistors alike to the town of North Conway had been vandalized. The sign normally reads 'Welcome to North Conway' under a picture of the White Mountains. However in the dark hours of the night, someone, or someones scratched out 'North Conway' and painted 'Psychic Town' in its place. This act of graffiti was obviously in reference to a recent New York Times article, which alluded to the fact that North Conway is becoming a mecca for psychics. Whether the graffiti was done by psychics or other individuals is unknown. Police ask anyone with information on this act of vandalism to come forward to the individuals responsible can be prosecuted. post a comment
Hunter Kincaid, New Tork Times March 1, 2009 North Conway, NH - North Conway, New Hampshire, a sleepy tourist town at the foot of the White Mountains, has become infamous in recent months because of the Zener School for the Mind - a school that caters to teens with psychic abilities. However reports indicate that the students and staff at the Zener School are not the only psychics in town. Graduates of the Zener School tend to stay in the area, adding to the psychic population, and numbers would suggest that other psychics, from elsewhere in the country, are migrating towards North Conway. Kasey Dusqesne and Ferdinand Archer, known for being fired from the traveling circus in which they worked for being psychic, have settled in North Conway, and have even bought an abandoned building. And they are just two of the many psychics who have taken up residence in this small New England town. Reactions to the news are mixed among non-psychic residents of the town. "They're just people," commented Jane Peterson, who owns a local clothing store. "I don't see why they should be treated differently than anyone else. Plenty of regular folks can behave badly too." Not all residents are so optimistic though. "We're concerned that the number of psychics in town might negatively impact on tourism," said one government official who wished to remain anonymous. "Tourism is the bread and butter of our town, and we have to be wary of anything that might steer people away." Of course some believe that the flip side would be true. "Some of us are hoping that all the talk about psychics in the news will bring even more people to North Conway out of curiosity," said Rob Sterling, manager of one of the local hotels. "Tourists are tourists, after all." post a comment
Catherine Baker, New York Times February 9, 2009 NY, NY- Harrison Price, a man known most famously for his television program The Afterlife, in which he claimed to be an open channel for communicating with those who have passed on, is making a few new names for himself these days, among those the King of the New Age. Although his television show was canceled early in two thousand and three for reasons described only as "creative differences", Price continues to claim to have extra sensory abilities. Despite the fact that the term 'psychic' is now approached with caution and trepidation due to recent events, most namely the attack on Times Square on New Year's Eve, Price wears the title with pride and has once again decided to share his "psychic gift" with the world. His book entitled You're Psychic hit store shelves late January and sales took off reaching one hundred thousand copies by the end of its first two weeks. The success was promptly followed up by a speaking tour within the continental United States. Combined, financiers estimate that Price's net worth may very well have doubled since two-thousand and nine began. Despite popular reservations towards psychics Price has gained, as well as wealth, a following that insures anyone wishing to attend his speeches book well in advance before the venue sells out. In both his book and his tour, Price claims that every human being is or has the potential to become psychic by following the plan he lays out. The routine centers mainly around meditation, practice, faith, and relying on one's intuition. Most recently at his speech in New York City, amid protest and spectators, Price proclaimed that the world was "at the dawn of a new age where people will no longer be bound by disease, prejudice, hatred, and small minds", and that he alone could lead them into it as the "King of the New Age". While his words were met with cheers and applause, the police were also called to keep peace amid a brewing riot. post a comment
Lindsey Perron, Conway Daily Sun January 28, 2009 North Conway, NH - When security guards and shop owners opened up the Mountain Valley Mall this morning they were greeted by an unfortunate sight. Evidence of vandalism spread through out the mall. "We were shocked to open up the doors this morning and find a mess all over the promenade," said an employee at one of the local clothing stores. Products from various stores were found laying about, out of packages and used and clothes were stolen from one store. Water from the fountain was splashed all over the floor. The McDonalds restaurant, located in the food court, seemed the worst hit. Food was taken and left in a mess, and the milkshake machine was broken, with sticky puddles left on the floor. "We were baffled when we first found the mess, because there was no evidence of break and enter," said one of the mall security guards when questioned. "But we figured it out when we looked at some of the security tapes. It was some of those psychics." Security tapes clearly show two young men passing through walls as if they weren't even there. Which of course has people worried. "They could go into any store, or any house, or even a bank, and take whatever they want," proclaimed one worried McDonalds employee who was stuck cleaning up some of the mess that was left behind. North Conway police are looking for information of the two young men responsible for this vandalism. post a comment
Hunter Kincaid, New York Times January 25, 2009 North Conway, NH - New Hampshire might be a sleepy, tourist-friendly state, but it is also a hotbed of psychic activity. Largely due to the presence of the Zener School for the Mind, located just outside of North Conway. The Zener School for the Mind has long been known in North Conway and beyond, although the true function of the school has been veiled in secrecy. Listed as 'a private boarding school for students of special needs', the Zener School does not clearly advertise what it is - a school for psychic teenagers. Although there have been rumours for a long time about the oddity of the school, most residents of the towns surrounding the school had no real idea of what was in their midst. Initial reports suggest that the school plays home to over one hundred teenagers with varied psychic abilities. The scope of these abilities is not yet known, nor is the purpose of this school. However in light of recent psychic activity, the residents of North Conway, New Hampshire - and the world - deserve to know what is happening in their town. Paul Wharton, Conway Daily Sun January 18, 2009 North Conway, New Hampshire - Kasey Duquesne and Ferdinand Archer, both residents of North Conay, New Hampshire, were recently fired from their jobs as circus performers for being psychics. Kasey and Ferdinand both worked for the traveling circus for the past few years, and were reportedly two of the most popular draws. Kasey worked as a lion tamer and Ferdinand as a magician. Often the two were among the top billed attractions when the circus would roll into town, and children and adults alike loved their shows. It was not difficult to find fans. "It was amazing what the lion tamer could do with hat beautiful animal!" said a mother who took her three children to the show in Boston, Mass. "The Amazing Ferdinand is amazing! And cute!" added one eleven year old fan of the magician. And yet despite this popularity and despite the draw they brought to the circus, both Miss Duquesne and Mr. Archer were let go after New Years. Sources say that the reasons given were 'cutting down on staff', but if this was the case, there were a number of less popular performers with less seniority who could have been let go. Although denied by the managers of the circus when asked for comment, many people speculate they were fired because of one thing - both are psychics. Miss Duquesne and Mr. Archer are not the first psychics to be let go from their jobs in the past three weeks. Although large chains and businesses are generally unable to fire psychics for legal reasons, this is not the case for independently owned businesses, and some professions that deal with the public. Lawsuits have cropped up as quickly as the firings have come, but thus far, there is no legal precedence for discrimination against psychics. But do not doubt it, for that is exactly what this sort of wrongful dismissal is - discrimination. post a comment
Hunter Kincaid, New York Times January 13, 2009 NY, NY - In response to a mass of questions about psychics, New York Senator Richard Blake has spoken out, assuring the public that measures are being taken to investigate and take measures to ensure that nothing like the New Years Eve disaster will happen again. Senator Blake spoke from his Manhattan offices about the topic of psychic humans. "We are naturally concerned," he said during a on-on-one interview. "While we do not encourage fear-mongering, the reaction is understandable." Blake spoke about New Years Eve, describing the events as 'disgusting' and 'disenheartening'. "We had hopes to ring in 2009 as a year of hope, not one of fear." But fear is the emotion that grips much of the public, along with concern and upset. When asked for his opinion on psychics, Blake was careful to state that he did not have an opinion on psychics individually. "I am sure that there are some psychics who are normal individuals and behave in the way that we would expect of all citizens. However it is clear that there are those who do not. Psychic abilities can be compared to a weapon and it has been proven that there are those who will use ths weapon against American citizens. And this cannot be allowed to continue." Blake is not the first government official to speak out in such a manner, although opinions have varied. There are those who claim that the actions of some do not reflect the actions of many; that all psychics should not be ill treated because of what a small group did. In contrast to this, there are some who believe that active measures must be taken. Outgoing President Bush was hear commenting that psychics should be identified among the public. "A number of people are equating psychics to guns," Senator Blake explained during his interview. "We have laws concerning guns and other weapons, and some believe that there should be laws concerning psychics." Of course it is much more difficult to impose laws on human beings and so much remains uncertain. "The one thing that is clear is that this is a debate that is just beginning," Blake said. "While there is much under discussion, there will be no quick decisions. The public wants answers, wants justice, but impulsive reactions may not be the smartest course of action." post a comment
Lindsey Perron, Conway Daily Sun January 11, 2009 North Conway, NH - Police are looking for several individuals in relation to the kidnapping of six students at a local private school in the fall of 2008. Five teenagers and one pre-teen were taken from the school in early November, and remained missing for nearly six weeks before they recovered. Police had no leads, but yesterday, new information came to light. The police were given photographs and names of two individuals involved, and sketches of several others. These individuals are wanted in connection with this crime. Kian Travers, 23, and Adam Meyers, 26, pictured below, were identified by those teenagers who were kidnapped. Lindsey Perron, Conway Daily Sun January 5, 2009 Conway, NH - 'Psychic' has become a buzzword, made popular by the unfortunate disaster that as New Years in ime Square. Up until recently, psychics - those with unusual mental abilities - were thought to be something best left to books, movies and television shows, not something of real life. Despite tabloid stories that spoke to the contrary, and whispered rumours of people who could do abnormal things, the general public did not believe that these things really existed. Until now. Because of what happened on New Years Eve, the world is no longer blind to psychics. These people exist - people who can cause great trouble, chaos and destruction with their minds alone. It has caused a great outcry from the public and the government here in the United States. With so little known about what these psychic individuals are capable of, many people are worried. Many people are scared. If a group of psychics was able to blow up the ball in Time Square, something that was considered completely secure, what else would the be capable of? What lengths will they go to to prove their point? And this Project Stargate has many people concerned. Being dubbed a terrorist organizaion, no one is certain if it is a group made up of a few or many, and what their intentions are. One thing that most people can agree on - individuals with psychic abilities have the potential to be very dangerous. Potential does not always equal actions, but as was demonstrated on New Years Eve, it only takes some to spread fear. post a comment
Catherine Baker, New York Times January 1, 2009 NY, NY - The world watched as New Years Eve celebrations in Time Square, New York, wre cut short by an explosion that rocked the city. The silver ball, which had been a symbol of New Years for over a century, was ripped apart by an explosion just seconds before it was to have finished its descent. The collective breath of the million people gathered in TimeSquare held at the count of 'two' as the explosion ripped through the air, causing mass panic. Over three hundred people were injured, twelve in critical condition, from the stampede of people attempting to leave the area. One fatality has been recorded, trampled to death by those fleeing the explosion. The exploision was caught on film and broadcast to the watching nation. This footage has been replayed many times, along with a message that could be found on every computer, cell phone and any other data-device at the time of the blast, which read, Normal humans are no longer the top rung of the evolutionary ladder - Project Stargate. Authorities believe this Project Stargate to be the culprit, however they have not yet connected any specific individuals to the crime. Preliminary research connects the name Project Stargate to a former government special ops project which studied psychic abilities and their military usages. This project was to have ended in 1995, and government officials have made assurances that the project did indeed end at that time. "It must be some sort of copycat," said one official who had worked on the project and wishes to remain unnamed. "Someone is trying to deflect the blame to us". Evidence from last night show that there may have been unnatural abilities at play, and many witnesses report seeing 'large monsters' appear from no where, or 'things flying through the air'. A number of other unusual things have been noted, and eye witness reports are still flowing in. post a comment
Lindsey Perron, Conway Daily Sun August 16, 2008 North Conway, NH - It seems that thieves have hit North Conway. Their target? Clothes innocently hung out to dry. Seven houses have reported clothes missing. These clothes vanished on Thursday afternoon. Although these thefts were not initially reported, due to their small nature, word eventually made its way through the town as it was discovered that a number of families in the same neighbourhood were missing clothes from their clotheslines. A variety of clothes were taken from several houses, ranging from pants to dresses to sweaters. Residents of the neighbourhood believe it to be some sort of practical joke, or the work of idle teenagers on their summer vacation. "Looks like we have a clothes bandit," joked Mrs. Benoit, a resident of the neighbourhood who at press time was missing four garments. "Or a lot of naked people running around out there looking for something to wear!" post a comment |
